This was only a test but I like this diffuse lightning, no sun or other lights, only Ambient Occlusion, 5 on surfaces and atmosphere:

Nice result. The ambient occlusion tool does indeed have its place in TG2 renders. It can sometimes be really nice when added to a scene that already has GI (so two enviro lights: one full-strength GI and one ambient occlusion at one-fifth power or so).
